Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico - 2006 Rally

    Puerto Penasco is located 41/2 hours south of Phoenix, Tucson, or Yuma Arizona. It's been a playground for for folks in this area for many years. We lived there for eight years one block off the Malecon (the road along the sea). This rally was started about five years ago by the mayor who just bought a new Harley. We now live here and haven't been able to attend. The big yellow house behind the park was ours. Now it's Mickey's Restaurant and Bar. Penasco is in the free zone - no passport is required. But make sure you have registration, M/C license, and Mexican Insurance. Your insurance here in not valid there. You can purchase it at any of the border towns in the US.

    There are several fine motels and lots of great restaurants in and around town. There are also RV parks around town and along the Sea of Cortez. With the influx of Gringos over the years most of the town's business speak English.  The photos below were sent to me by my friend Charlene who patio looks out over the park in the first photo.
